CITYSCAPES:
Perspectives from Modern and Contemporary Culture
Keynote Speaker:
Edward W. Soja (UCLA)
July 8-10, 2004
The National Library of Wales and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth
This international and interdisciplinary conference will examine
constructions, representations, imaginations and theorizations of
'cityscapes' from the early twentieth century through to the present day.
Thinking through and across disciplinary/period boundaries, the conference
will seek in particular to bring together perspectives on urban culture from
scholars across the humanities and social sciences.
Proposals are invited for 20 minute papers that engage with any aspect of
'cityscape' and modern/contemporary culture. All disciplinary approaches and
theoretical perspectives are welcome.
Please submit paper proposals (400 words) and a short biography (100 words)
by December 1, 2003. Email submissions are preferred. A selection of the
conference papers will be published as an edited book. For more information,
