Call for Papers: Film Adaptation Area

2004 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association

25th Annual Conference, held in conjunction with the National Popular
Culture/American Culture Association Conference, San Antonio, Texas

April 7-10, 2004

The 2004 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas, at
the beautiful San Antonio Marriott River Center Hotel, on the Riverwalk.
Join us this year, as a returning or first-time participant, as we
celebrate a quarter-century of this regional popular culture conference.
Further details regarding the conference (listing of all areas, hotel,
registration, tours, etc.) can be found at

Proposals are now being accepted for the Film Adaptation Area. Listed
below are some suggestions for possible presentations, but topics not
included here are also welcome.

*Novel and short story to film adaptations

*Drama to film adaptations (excluding Shakespeare--see
Shakespeare on Film and Television Area)

*Film to film adaptations

*Adaptations based on video games, television programs, and stage
productions (musicals, etc.)

*Biography, autobiography, and nonfiction adaptations

*The Harry Potter adaptations

*The Lord of the Rings trilogy

*The novel of the American West/Southwest on film

And much more . . . .

Inquiries regarding this area and/or abstracts of 250 words may be sent
to Lynnea Chapman King or Andrew Tash at the email or physical
addresses below. Please include a current curriculum vitae and a
working bibliography for your paper. Submission deadline, November 15.
