CALL FOR PAPERS for the RACIAL CONSTRUCTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS Area of the National Popular Culture/American Culture Associations in San Antonio TX on April 7-10 2004. This will be a joint meeting with the Southwest/Texas PCA/ACA.
The racial constructions and consideration area is dedicated to discussing and dissecting the racial tropes and traditions which curse and guide our society. The racial constructions and considerations area is not designed to compete with the areas of various ethnic and racial concerns, but rather to complement them.
Last year we had speakers present on a variety of subjects, including the rhetoric between the Asian-American and the African-American radical groups during Viet Nam, Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography, Cho’s I’m the One that I Want, and Vin Diesel.
Presentations can be on any subject, and are not limited to:
The Racist Dialogue of post 9/11
Holy Hoppin’ Hobbits! The racial constructs of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings
The X-gene in four colors: The X-Men and the Genetic Other
Immigration and Migration: Racial tensions during the early Twentieth Century
