CALL FOR PAPERS

for a panel on the

Medieval Period

Sponsored by the Medieval Women Interest Group
National Women's Studies Association
Twenty-Fifth Annual Conference
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
June 17-20, 2004

We invite submissions on any topic that explores the medieval
period. Papers might address the following: race, gender, sexuality,
class, nationality, colonialism, language, culture, religion, geography,
science, medicine, law, and education. Submissions considering the place of
feminism in teaching and studying the medieval period will also be
considered. Submissions that engage in interdisciplinary scholarship are
especially encouraged. This is the first year that separate panels are
offered for the medieval and early modern periods.

Submissions should include both a 50-word abstract and a one-page
description. Completed papers should be approximately eight pages, for a
reading time of 15 minutes. Short papers will leave time for panel
participants and audience members to engage in discussion. Abstracts of
accepted papers will appear in the NWSA program guide.

The deadline for submissions to the Medieval Interest Group Organizing
Committee is November 14, 2003.

Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by December
3. Although the NWSA Medieval Interest Group may only sponsor one panel,
we will group all applications into panels so you can submit proposals
directly to NWSA. For more information on submission guidelines for the
general conference, please see the NWSA website
(<http://www.nwsa.org/>http://www.nwsa.org.).

E-mail submissions are preferred.
