IRIS MURDOCH: A REASSESSMENT

An International Conference
Hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
Kingston University
London, UK
September 17th & 18th 2004

CALL FOR PAPERS

Following the success of the first Iris Murdoch Conference at St Anne's
College, Oxford, in 2002, we are pleased to announce that the second Iris
Murdoch Conference will be held at Kingston University in 2004. The
Conference aims to explore how Murdoch's work can be related to that of
contemporary novelists and thinkers. It will reassess the novels and
philosophy of Iris Murdoch in relation to current re-evaluations of
postmodernist thought and will provide an opportunity to consider in what
ways Murdoch's writing and ideas anticipated such re-evaluations. We welcome
papers on any aspect of Murdoch's writing and its relationship to current
literary and philosophical debates.

We shall also be pleased to receive papers for panels on specific topics or
aspects of individual novels.
