deadline: 31 January 2004
CRITICAL SENSE, produced by an interdisciplinary group of graduate students
and based in the Department of Political Science at the University of
California-Berkeley, seeks book reviews and review essays to publish in its
upcoming issue.
Submitted reviews should treat monographs or edited volumes of current
interest to scholars in the fields of political or cultural theory and
published during or after the year 2001. Reviewers should situate the work or
works among relevant fields of study, with respect to the author's/authors'
prior publications, or in terms of critical academic trends (e.g.,
globalization theory or postcolonial criticism).
The editorial board will also consider reviews of works of fiction, drama, or
poetry published during 2003, provided that the reviewer situates the work in
relation to literary or critical trends.
The editorial board seeks submissions between five and seven pages in length
(1-inch margins, 12-point type), but in no case should a review treating a
single publication exceed ten pages. CRITICAL SENSE does occasionally publish
longer review essays of up to fifteen double-spaced pages, treating two or
more works.
Please send submissions, by 31 January 2004, as attachments in Word or rich
text format to the following email address:
