American Literature Association (ALA) Conference
May 27-30 2004 - San Francisco

    "Ethnic Doubles and Racial Others in Bernard Malamud's Fiction"

The Bernard Malamud Society invites papers that might consider the function
of "doubles" and "others" as moral guides, alter egos, confrontation of
appositional prejudices and value systems. Doubling and othering might be of discrete
individuals or intrapsychic projections. Works may include " The Last
Mohican," The Tenants , "Angel Levine," "The Jewbird," "The Mourners," "Talking
Horse," "The German Refugee," "Rembrandt's Hat," God's Grace.
