CFP: MLA Special Session (Philadelphia, December 2004)

THE NATURES OF EARLY MODERN COURTIERSHIP

We welcome papers that explore the "natures" of early modern English
and continental courtiership in theory and practice. How does
courtiership stand in relation to the varied period conceptions of
the "natural"? How does courtiership or courtly status inform early
modern "green," natural historical, and scientific discourses?
Interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged.

Please send abstracts (500-800 words) to Vin Nardizzi <vjn@duke.edu>.
Deadline: 1 March 2004.
