SOUNDING OUT 2 - An International Symposium on Sound in the Media

8-10. July. 2004 - University of Nottingham

Confirmed speakers include:
 - Ioan Allen (Academy Award recipient, vice-president Dolby Laboratories)
 - Anne Karpf (Author and Writer, The Guardian newspaper)
 - Kate Rowland (BBC Creative Director, New Writing)
 - Moufida Tlatli (Award winning filmmaker)

Following the success of the first Sounding Out event in July 2002, the Midlands Sound Research Group and Alan Beck, editor of Sound Journal, are pleased to announce a second International Conference on the practices and theories of sound.

This event aims to promote links and dialogue between practitioners, students and academics concerned with SOUND as communication, entertainment and creative practice across converging media: including film, radio, television, electro-acoustic music, new digital media, computer games.

Proposals for illustrated presentations (15 mins talk, 5 mins examples) are invited in three key areas:
 - Voice
 - Audiences & Sound
 - Cultural Identities

Please send abstracts of no more than 150 words by 10 March to:
