Pacific Northwest Renaissance Conference:
Early Modern Shapes

May 6-8, 2004

Plenary Speakers

Alan Galley, Western Washington University, author of The Indian Slave
Trade: the Rise of the English Empire in the American South, 1670-1717
(Yale UP, 2002), winner of the 2003 Bancroft Prize, will present
"Raleigh and the Origins of English Colonialism."

Laurie Shannon, Duke University, author of Sovereign Amity: Figures of
Friendship in Shakespearean Contexts (U Chicago P, 2002), will present
"Actaeon's Coat: Spots, Fur, and the Renaissance Zoographies of the
Body's Edge."

One-page abstracts, session, and roundtable proposals are welcome in any
area of Renaissance Studies, including art, history, literature, music,
philosophy, science, and theology.

EXTENDED DEADLINE for submission of one-page abstracts, session, and
roundtable proposals: April 1, 2004.

Please be sure to include professional affiliation, address, phone
number, and e-mail address with each abstract, whether submitted
individually or as part of a session/roundtable proposal. E-mail
submissions are welcome.
