Proposals are invited for a panel on Prehistoric and Early Historic
Matrifocal Culture at the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language
Association convention, to be held on the campus of Reed College,
Portland, Oregon from November 5-7, 2004.

This is a regular PAMLA session. Previous programs have included
presentations on goddess religion, vestiges of matriliny, or female
customs in English, Celtic, Roman, Greek, Hittite or Berber contexts.
One paper this year will examine Yuruba traditions of Nigeria.

The conference website is <www.pamla.org/callforpapers2004.htm>.
Participants must become members of PAMLA for the current year.

Suggestions for a twenty minute paper are invited. Please send by April
13, 2004 a title, 250 word abstract and paper if available to me at
<fbattaglia@comcast.net>.
