  22nd Annual Graduate Student Conference in Medieval Studies

“East / South / West / North: Encounters in the Medieval World”

Conference Date: Saturday, October 2nd, 2004 at Brown University

  Deadline for Submissions: Friday, June 4th, 2004

The 22nd Annual Brown-UConn-Yale Graduate Student Conference in
Medieval Studies will take place on Saturday, October 2nd, 2004 at
Brown University. Intended to bring together scholars to discuss a
range of issues concerning the Medieval World, the conference is a
wonderful opportunity to meet and gain feedback from peers in a wide
variety of fields.

Abstracts from graduate students are now being accepted on all topics
concerning late antiquity through the late Middle Ages. Papers
addressing issues of pedagogy and technology will also be gladly
considered.  We strongly encourage papers from a variety of
disciplines, including:

  ANTHROPOLOGY – ARCHAEOLOGY – ART HISTORY – CLASSICAL STUDIES –
COMPARATIVE LITERATURE – HISTORY – HISTORY OF SCIENCE – LANGUAGE
STUDIES – LITERARY STUDIES – MUSICOLOGY – PHILOSOPHY – RELIGIOUS
STUDIES –– THEOLOGY – URBAN STUDIES – WOMEN’S & GENDER STUDIES

  Abstracts of no more than 300 words for a 15-20 minute paper should be
e-mailed (strongly preferred) to Amy Vines at
MedievalConference@brown.edu or [snail-]mailed to Maria Sokolova (see
address below).

  In addition to the abstract, please include a brief personal statement
or Curriculum Vitae of less than one page, with full contact
information and a tentative assessment of any audiovisual equipment
required for your presentation.

  The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, June 4th, 2004. A
graduate student committee will review submissions and respond by email
by July 1st. Abstracts of accepted papers will be made available on the
conference web site.

Limited accommodations may be available for students traveling long
distances.
