Jamestown Community College's upcoming conference on Thinking, Reading, and
Writing: Literacy & Learning in the Secondary School and Early College will
feature keynote speaker, Dr. Norman Stahl, a professor in the Department of
Literacy Education at Northern Illinois University. This conference
addresses many of the issues that are inherent in the ongoing practice and
development of writing across the curriculum, critical thinking, and content
area reading programs occurring at the secondary school level and the first
two years of college level.
Proposals are requested for panel discussions and individual presentations
regarding the themes of critical thinking, writing across the curriculum,
and content area reading. Subjects may range from the humanities, art, and
philosophy to social sciences, business, science, and nature education.
Proposal submissions must include the following: phone number, email
address, and mailing address of presenters; type of presentation;
presentation description (please limit your description to 75 - 150 words);
and primary thread (composition/writing across the curriculum; critical
thinking and content area reading).
