A panel for The Voyage Out: Fourth Biennial Conference of the
International Society for Travel Writing, October 21-24, 2004
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This panel invites papers on all aspects of pilgrimages and pilgrimage
narratives, ancient, medieval, early modern, modern, and postmodern.
The goal is to collect a diverse group of papers that together will
trouble, expand, and/or question ideas about pilgrimages.
Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged.
Possible topics:
pilgrimage and/as tourism
secular pilgrimages
commercial pilgrimages
allegorical pilgrimages
