Call for Papers
Latino/a Area Studies
Annual Conference of the MidAtlantic Popular/American Culture Association
In Buffalo, New York

We welcome papers focusing on Latino/a identities or representations of Latino/a identity in Latino/a media and mainstream U.S. media. Papers might consider examining questions on the representation of specific national identities, classes, races, religious groups, genders, or sexualities. Papers might focus on target audiences, such as children, teenagers, women, or men. Papers might examine factors determining production or format choices. Papers undertaking crosscultural comparisons of the media are welcome. Papers may consider any media or genre within media: in addition to television and film, scholarship on music or novels is welcome. Proposals and papers are not limited to mentioned topics.

Paper proposals should be 150 words and written in English. Include audiovisual requests. The due date for proposals is June 30. Proposals should be sent to:
