CALL FOR PAPERS
In keeping with theme of this year's Central New York Conference on
Language and Literature, "Haunting the Future: the Academy's Coming
Community," the panel on Exile in Literature will focus on the extent to
which literary representations of exile are haunted. Defined largely in
terms of loss, the intellectual and personal space of exile is rife with
that which is absent but which continues to define the present. The goal
of the panel will be to read these present absences as hauntings in the
context of a variety of literary texts. Please send 500-word abstracts to
Erica Johnson (ejohnson3@chatham.edu) by July 15.
The Central New York Conference on Language and Literature is held at
SUNY-Cortland (October 29-31).
