This one day symposium will investigate the ways in which Cultural
Studies can be understood as an interdisciplinary field of study that
incorporates a wide range of topics, from philosophy, history, and
economics to the sciences, in order to consider the ways in which
everything from multicultural issues to technology influence a given
discipline. A Cultural Studies model for curricula, or the infusion of
Cultural Studies models of inquiry into more traditional courses, can
allow for a conversation related to the presence or absence of
multicultural, and diversity related course content in some disciplines
and can also address problems of Equity group student recruitment and
retention on college and university campuses.
