What, if any, are the effects of the Cuban Missile Crisis on the American psyche? How did those 13 days in October change both our interpretations of history and dramatic representations of war and conflict in film? Did the Cuban Missile Crisis impact the reputations of the individuals involved? How has this event been depicted in film, TV, and history? From films like Thirteen Days and The Missiles of October to TV mini-series like Kennedy, the Cuban Missile Crisis has remained a defining moment in American history on film.
The Film and History League, with the Literature/Film Association, will be holding its conference on “War in Film, Television, and History” during November 11-14, 2004, near Dallas, TX.
