The GRECC – Grupo de Estudos em Crítica Contemporanea (Contemporary Criticism
Research Group, http://www2.fclar.unesp.br/grupos/framegrecc.htm) is looking
for panelists for its 3rd Annual Symposium, to take place in Araraquara,
Brazil, on November 29-30th. GRECC was founded in 1999 and is devoted to the
work of Jacques Derrida and the relations of deconstruction to the different
trends of contemporary critical thought. This year’s symposium will be
dedicated to the theme “Comparative Deconstructions” and will focus on the
reception of deconstruction outside France. We would like to address questions
such as: How does deconstruction as practiced in the United States interpret
its French version? What are the epistemological and political consequences of
this process of translation? To what extend may deconstruction respond to
radically differing cultural contexts? Does the nature of metaphysics change
according to national boundaries? What is the articulation between metaphysics
and society?
Please send abstracts (200-300 words) together with a brief biographical note
to Fabio Akcelrud Durao, fad2_at_duke.edu. Deadline October 14th.
Limited funding available.
