Shakespeare - Teller of myths and fairy tales
Bochum, Germany
21-24 April 2005

The topic of the 2005 Annual Conference of the Deutsche
Shakespeare-Gesellschaft will be 'dramatic story-telling: myths and fairy
tales in Shakespeare'. We invite contributions that discuss the purposes for
which Shakespeare makes use of myths and fairy tales, his methods of
'narrating' such stories in the medium of drama, the effects of source
materials of this kind on the plots, characters and language of the plays,
the afterlife of the mythic and supernatural elements of Shakespeare's plays
throughout the centuries in stage productions, films, the visual arts etc.
Manuscripts (about 5000 words) should be sent to the 'Gesamtredaktion' of
the Shakespeare-Jahrbuch in Munich by March 31, 2005. For detailed and up-to
date information please consult the website of the Deutsche
