Call for papers: Proposals are invited for papers to be delivered at a
symposium on "Religion and Gender in Early Modern Europe," to be held at
the University of Mississippi on April 15, 2005. The symposium will be
held in conjunction with the James Edwin Savage Lecture in the
Renaissance, "Lustful Luther: Male Libido in the Writings of the
Reformer," to be delivered the evening of April 14 by Merry Wiesner-Hanks,

symposium organizers--faculty members in the departments of English,
History, and Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi--seek
proposals of 250-500 words (for finished papers of no more than 3,000
words) from scholars from a variety of academic disciplines. Proposals
from advanced graduate students will be given full consideration. Each
proposal should include a brief curriculum vitae.
Please send proposals by November 30, 2004 to Dr. Jeffrey R. Watt,
hswatt_at_olemiss.edu (Department of History, University of Mississippi,
