Possibilities and Perspectives: Reclaiming the Imagination=20
The English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) of the University of =
North Carolina at Charlotte is pleased to announce its fifth annual =
conference to be held Friday, January 21, 2005. This conference is =
geared toward graduate students, but exceptional undergraduate papers =
will be considered.
Call for papers:
Changing perspectives inevitably bring about new possibilities. New =
perspectives encourage us to negotiate new ways of seeing and being in =
the world. The idea of imagination has often been associated with =
unrealistic idealism, but it is human imagination that enables us to =
adapt to our changing world and to use these changing perspectives to =
create and critique our environment. These possibilities for creative =
and critical expression thus allow us to reclaim the imagination as a =
vital and multidimensional tool for living in the world.
Paper topics could include, but are not limited to:
*Possibilities and perspectives in rhetoric and composition, creative =
writing, linguistics, technical communication, and literary criticism
*Re-imaginings of gender, race, sexuality, and identity
*Re-imagined perspectives on history and culture
*Reclamation and possibilities in creative writing
*The role of imagination in pedagogy
Submissions:
We welcome submissions of both non-fiction and creative writing. Papers =
should not exceed a reading time of 15 minutes. There will be a =
competitive evaluation of materials for acceptance. Please include your =
name, the name of your institution and program, and any A/V needs you =
may have. Submit abstracts of no more than 250 words by December 15, =
2004 via email or post.
