CALL FOR PAPERS
THE EIGHTH ANNUAL
RED RIVER CONFERENCE ON WORLD LITERATURE
APRIL 22 - 24, 2005

"Imagined Communities": Nation, Race, Home, Family
We invite papers and panel proposals on topics that investigate the
ideological construct of "imagined communities," and its various
formulations and combinations across medias, languages, disciplines, time
periods and theoretical approaches.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Expatriate/ Diasporic Writings and Writers
Frontiers in Fiction: Writers, Readers, Representations
Nationalism and Narration
The Subject of/in Postcolonial
Cultural Capital, Global Culture
Post / Nationalism
Dreams / Dream Worlds
Utopias and Counter-Utopias
While we are particularly interested in proposals that address the
conference theme, papers and panels on all aspects of world literature will
be considered.
Individual presenters should submit a 250-word abstract; include your name,
complete mailing address, and e-mail address. Proposals for panels must
include an abstract for each presenter, as well as names, addresses and
e-mail addresses of all participants. Abstracts submitted as e-mail
attachments in Word or Word Perfect are preferred but hard copies will also
be accepted.
Submissions must be received by December 6, 2004.
