(dis)junctions; theory reloaded (April 8-9, 2005)
Postmodern author and demystifying creation in the novel
This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at “(dis)junctions:
Theory (Re)Loaded,” the University of California Riverside’s 12th Annual
Humanities Graduate Conference. It will take place April 8-9, 2005. For
more information, visit the website:
http://www.english.ucr.edu/gsea/disjunctions.
The author’s role is to set forth a creation, usually without revealing the
means utilized to do so. However, some authors have rejected this notion
and embraced the demystifying process of creation. The question remains,
how successful are these attempts? This panel will explore tools used in
the author’s attempt at jarring the reader into conscious contemplation of
the novel’s modes of production. Are we encouraged to question the author
as ultimate authority within the novel? Contributors are invited to submit
papers on postmodern authors and novels in which the modes of production are
revealed.
Abstracts no longer than 250 words should be e-mailed to:
“Plrand25_at_hotmail.com” by January 7, 2005. Please put the text in the body
of the message, not as an attachment.
