CALL FOR PAPERS: The Poets and Poetry Panel

45th National Congress of the Société des Anglicistes de l'Enseignement
Supérieur

Université de Toulouse Le Mirail

France

13th-15th May 2005

Texte(s), Contexte(s), Hors-Texte(s)

Text, Context, Off-text: Poets, Poetry & Parody

This year the poetry panel shall be discussing 'Text, Context, Off-text:
Poets, Poetry and Parody'. Please send me your abstracts before the 15th
January.

Because the meta-fictional nature of parody constructs a complex
relationship between text, context and what might be termed off-text, the
Poets & Poetry panel has chosen to focus on this particular aspect of the
conference theme. What kind of text is parody? How is it related, for
instance, to pastiche, imitation, or mimicry? In what contexts does parody
function? What can it tell us about the writing and reading processes?

The panel would welcome papers which help to theorize the notion of parody,
as well as those which make a contribution to a history of parody.

Sincerest regards,

Raphaël Costambeys-Kempczynski
