Once upon a time in the Highlands:
Dance narratives throughout space and time.
Saturday 5th March 2005
Sadler's Wells Theatre
EADH celebrates two famous story-tellers. The bicentennial of the Danish
fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen and the return of Matthew
Bourne's Highland Fling, a contemporary reading of the 1832 classic La
Sylphide, prompt a study day devoted to various notions of danced
narratives. Starting with fairy-tales and literary sources, the study day
focuses on dance stories, choreographic story-telling strategies and dance
narratives through different styles, genres, cultures and times. Scholars,
researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals addressing
danced narratives and related issues.
Proposals for 30-minute presentations must include:
7 an abstract of no more than 500 words,
7 an indicative bibliography
7 a separate cover letter stating name of the presenter, contact
details, title of paper, institutional affiliation (if relevant) and
technical requirements.
Proposals will be reviewed blind.
For electronic submission see guidelines on EADH website
(www.eadh.com/conferences.asp)
Time limits will be enforced.
Presenters are expected to be members of the society by the time of the
study day.
Deadline: Monday 17th January 2005
Applicants will be notified by Monday 31st January 2005
Please send abstracts to:
