On behalf of The Harvard East Asia Society (HEAS), we would like to
invite qualified graduate students, with research interests relevant
to the East Asian region, to submit abstracts for presentation at the
8th Annual Harvard East Asia Society Graduate Student Conference held
March 4-6, 2005. We hope that you will encourage your students to
submit an abstract for this year's conference, on any subject of his
or her choosing, as we are seeking for lively discussions on various
subjects in this year's conference.
All abstracts must be submitted to heasconference_at_gmail.com as an
attached word document by December 10, 2004, and must be limited to
500 words in length. Once an abstract is chosen for presentation at
the conference, presenters will be asked to submit a copy of their
final paper for review in January.
We would also like you and your students to know that a new addition
to this year's conference is the inclusion of roundtable symposium
discussions. These discussions are intended to engage panelists in
lively discussions on various social, political, economical and
international issues. This is a wonderful opportunity for participants
to discuss issues related to East Asia with fellow graduate students,
professors, visiting scholars and fellows throughout the Harvard
community. We highly encourage you to attend these symposiums, as they
are unique to Harvard's graduate student conference.
The HEAS Graduate Student Conference provides an interdisciplinary
forum for promising graduate students from the United States and
around the world to exchange ideas and discuss current research on
East Asia with peers, professors, and professionals. The Harvard East
Asia Society draws membership from all those in the Harvard community
whose academic interests focus on East Asia, and our student-run,
non-profit conference is the largest of its kind in North America.
Previous participants have described the HEAS Graduate Student
Conference as an invaluable opportunity to receive feedback on their
research from distinguished professors of Harvard University.
Thank you for your attention and consideration. Please feel free to
contact us with questions, comments or concerns at
HEASconference_at_gmail.com or visit our website at
