Call for Papers & Conference Announcement
The Wole Soyinka Society invites you to participate in its 3rd Wole Soyinka International Congress to be held in South Africa.
Date: August 4 to 6 2005
Venue: University of South Africa (UNISA) Sunnyside Campus, Pretoria.
The organisers of the event hereby invite interested scholars and postgraduate students to submit proposals for papers and panel presentations. Abstracts should not be more than 350 words, and they should indicate clearly the focus or aim of the presentation.
The theme of the 3-day conference is “Soyinka across Boundaries”.
Borders include, but are not limited to, culture, language, space, art forms, history, science, politics, and religion.
Confirmed keynote speakers include Profs. Abiola Irele, Isidore Okpewho ("Wole Soyinka: Poetry as a Well Aimed Fist."), Ketu Ketrak ("Wole Soyinka's Engagements with Twenty-First Century Geopolitics and the Creative Worker's Social Responsibilities”), Femi Euba ("Experiencing Soyinka: The Biko Inquest"), Andries Oliphant and Omobola Ajayi-Soyinka ("Dancing with Soyinka from Ilujinle to Greece”) and confirmed Panelists that will discuss the theme of the conference are Prof. Dan Izevbaye and Yvone Brewster.
Abstracts should be forwarded, not later than January 14, 2005, in electronic format (MSWORD), to:
