15th International James Fenimore Cooper Conference & Seminar

June 13 - 17, 2005
The State University of New York
College at Oneonta

"A Geography of the Mind: Architecture, Landscape and the Imaginative
Reconstruction of the Past"

This year's Conference & Seminar will focus on J.F. Cooper's The Last of
the Mohicans (1826) & Susan Fenimore Cooper's Rural Hours (1850), so
papers which deal in some meaningful way with these texts or the theme
perspective - either individually or in some combination - are
especially welcome. However, papers that treat any other area of
interest to Cooper scholars will also be considered. A trip to Fort
William Henry will be a part of our week-long exploration of the
Coopers' role in the development of an American mythic / narrative
history.
        
Short abstracts - one-to-two pages - that preview 20-minute
presentations should be sent to
