Association of Literary Scholars and Critics (ALSC)

2005 Conference, Cambridge, MA, November 4-6, 2005

 

The 2005 ALSC Conference Program Committee invites proposals for papers and
presentations for consideration for the 2005 conference, to be held at the
Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, Massachusetts, November 4-6. Descriptions of
each panel and seminar topic appear below, along with contact information
for submissions.

 

In all cases, the deadline for submissions is March 31, 2005. And in all
cases, we request that a second, electronic copy of your submission be sent
to the Association's office at alsc_at_bu.edu. Please write "Conference 2005
submission" in the subject line of your message.

Panel Three: The Fiction of Naguib Mahfouz

Chair: Roger Allen (Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of
Pennsylvania).

This panel seeks papers that (re-)consider the role of the output of Naguib
Mahfouz in the novel form in the development of modern Arabic fiction and
its reception in the Western world. Send abstracts of no more than one
paragraph (or a half a page) in length, by March 31, 2005, to Professor
Roger Allen, Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, 840 Williams
