We are looking for a third paper to complete an MLA special session proposal
tentatively titled "Beyond Orientalism: Foreign Spaces in Victorian Sexology".

The panel will focus on intersections between Victorian sex or sexology and the
"foreign," whether in empire, geography, or travel. If Orientalism proposes a
reductive model of sexual relations between westerner and orientalized other,
this panel will look at more nuanced ways that foreign spaces and geography
figure in Victorian erotic or sexological discourses. Please email 250-400 word
abstracts as soon as possible (but by March 22 at the latest) to Rachel
Teukolsky at Penn State, rkt3_at_psu.edu.
