Abstracts are being sought for a panel on approaches to teaching Dead
Man Walking at the Midwest Modern Language Association conference to be
held in Milwaukee on November 10-13, 2005.
This is the call for papers that appears on the MMLA website
(http://www.uiowa.edu/~mmla/):
"Teachers and Witnesses: Approaches to Teaching Dead Man Walking." This
session seeks papers on approaches to teaching Dead Man Walking by Sr.
Helen Prejean. Instructors who have used Dead Man Walking in their
courses are encouraged to submit abstracts that describe their methods
and approaches. Participants are also welcome to discuss how critical,
literary, or pedagogical theory informs their use of Dead Man Walking in
the classroom. Discussions of the book, the film, the opera, or the play
(or in combination) are also welcome. Please send abstracts (250 words)
