Call For Papers: Popular Literary Landscapes

The Popular Literary Landscapes panel of the 2005
Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association Conference welcomes
abstracts of papers (200-250 words) that discuss literary
descriptions/portrayals of the American landscape. The descriptions
may be factual or fictional, in poetry or prose; the focus may be on
land or seascape, city or countryside. The chair is open to any
submitter's thematic preference, but requires that the choice and
treatment of subject matter demonstrate the connection that exists
between land/seascape descriptions and the cultural ideals and values
that inform them. Typically these thematic issues are at the center
of the design and purpose of the works in which these descriptions
appear.
Include AV needs in your proposal. Choices are limited to
DVD/VCR/monitor/audio cassette player/carousel and overhead
projectors/screen.

Deadline for submissions is 25 June 2005.
Conference meets at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick, NJ.
Meeting dates are 4-6 November 2005.
Please address email abstracts to wxm3_at_psu.edu
