CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS

What: Attention / Inattention: Graduate Critique and Creativity Conference

When: October 7-8, 2005

Where: University of Denver

Deadline for proposals: May 15, 2005

Details:
Based on a suggestion by Anne Carson, University of Denver will hold a two-day conference, Attention / Inattention, which will explore the relationships—and antagonisms—between creative AND critical/theoretical writing as well as showcasing new writing in both forms.

We invite paper and panel submissions for a conference which can be in the form of poems, short stories, and performance and need not themselves address the issue of critique—our discussions will! Critical/theoretical papers can range across time, space, and genre from Beowulf to current fiction.

Our Two Plenary Speakers Include:

ANNE CARSON
author of Plainwater, Autobiography of Red,
If Not, Winter, translations of Sappho, and Eros the Bittersweet

AND

MARJORIE PERLOFF
author of Wittgenstein’s Ladder, 21st Century Modernism,
Radical Artifice and, most recently, Differentials: Poetry, Poetics, Pedagogy

Please send brief outlines (or questions) to both:
