ANNOUNCEMENT
AND
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Where: Kent State University’s Kent Campus
When: Friday, October 28, 2005.
Theme: Virtual Administration: Issues Affecting the
Administration of English Programs and Courses that Integrate
Technology
Keynote Address by Dr. Sherrie Gradin, Ohio University; Director,
Center for Writing Excellence & Writing Across the Curriculum
Dr. Sherrie Gradin has worked as a Writing Program Administrator for
the past fifteen years; and she has helped to create, implement, and
establish a virtual teaching and learning space (for both faculty and
students) in collaboration with the Center for Innovation in Technology
for Learning at OU. Her publications include Romancing Rhetorics and,
with Duncan Carter, Writing as Reflective Action.
English department and program administrators are welcome to submit
proposals for panels or roundtable discussions that deal with this
theme or other issues that English department and program
administrators, including English Education, face in the current
economic climate. Consider topics such as program assessment,
evaluation of faculty, academic freedom and freedom of speech in the
classroom and finding and managing space for adjunct faculty, among
others.
