Conference History
Founded in 1995, the Kerouac Conference brings together scholars and
students from across the country and abroad to discuss the latest
scholarship on Kerouac and all of the Beat Movement authors. In the past,
papers have been presented not only on Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Burroughs but
also on Herbert Huncke, Janine Pommy Vega, Diane di Prima, Bob Kaufman,
Gregory Corso, and Gary Snyder, among others. The conference is one of a
variety of programs sponsored by the Jack and Stella Kerouac Center for
American Studies, an interdisciplinary center devoted to the study of all
areas of American literature, history, and culture.
