The English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities invites proposals for papers and panels for its annual conference. This year's conference theme is Writing and/as Struggle.

Possible topics include but are not limited to questions of struggle in relation to creativity, identity, history, and genre. Papers and panels might address the writing process itself, the complexities of critical analysis, the relationship between writer, reader, and text, or the implications of literary representations of social, political, or historical conflicts. Other topics might involve literary treatments of any form of struggle, language and representation of trauma or war, fruitful or creative outcomes of conflict, or struggle in relation to identity formation.

EAPSU welcomes proposals from scholars from all regions. Proposals should be no more than 250 words and should be directed to: rholderer_at_edinboro.edu.

The conference will be hosted by Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and will be held in Erie, PA on October 19-21, 2005. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Margot Norris, author of Writing War in the Twentieth Century.
