CFP: Sound and Music in Film and the Visual Media (10/28/05; collection)

CALL FOR CHAPTERS

The Continuum Companion to Sound in Film and the Visual Media

(Continuum Books -- http://www.continuumbooks.com)

This book, now approaching its projected length, aims to bring
together key experts/chapters on issues, ideas, histories,
technologies, approaches (etc) connected with sound and music in film
and the visual media.

A small number of areas remain uncovered and we are looking to cover
these asap as the book moves toward its 2005/6 editorial phase. These
chapters are as follows:

1. Sound and/or Music in the Horror Film

2. Film music and/or sound theory (one chapter is included; another,
                                       alternate,approach is sought)

3. Sound and/or Music in Hong Kong cinema

4. Sound and/or Music in Disney animation

5. Sound and/or Music in relation to media/film propaganda

Chapters in the book range in length from 4000 words to 10000 words.

The above chapters are likely to be in the vicinity of 4000-5000
words. Individual chapter contracts are issued by the press.

Those interested in undertaking one of these chapters are invited to

A short abstract (c.100 words) would be useful -- remembering that
the book is a "Companion", designed for both undergraduate students
and researchers/staff. Decisions on what is being included relate
directly to the breadth and depth of this readership.

Closing date: 28 October 2005; but contact asap is very much
encouraged.
