CFP: Jewish Studies at PCA (10/1/06; PCA/ACA, 4/4/07-4/7/06)

The Jewish Studies Area of the Popular Culture Association is organizing
panels for the 2007 conference of the ACA/PCA in Boston, Massachusetts, April 4-7,
2007.
 
Any area pertaining to Jewish Studies may be examined and evaluated for open
panels being formed for the PCA conference. Topics include, but are not
exclusive to, the following suggested topic areas:
 
Jewish Mythology
Jewish Religion and its Divisions
Jewish Authors (e.g., Phillip Roth, Chaim Potok)
Jewish History (e.g., life under Islam on the Iberian Peninsula,
        European anti-Semitism)
The Holocaust (e.g., the camps, the ghettos, the survivors)
Jewish Hollywood (e.g., the moguls, the producers)
Jewish Popular Musicians (e.g., Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand,
        Bob Dylan)
Jewish Popular Composers (e.g., George and Ira Gershwin, Irving
        Berlin, Neil Diamond)
Jewish Classical Musicians (e.g., Beverly Sills, Itzak Perlman,
        Arthur Rubinstein)
Jewish Classical Composers (e.g., Felix Mendelssohn, Aaron
        Copland, Leonard Bernstein)
Jewish Politicians (e.g., Michael Bloomberg, Joseph Lieberman,
        Kinky Friedman)
Jewish Comedians/Early 20th Century (e.g., Marx Brothers,
        Three Stooges, Mae West)
Jewish Comedians/Mid 20th Century (e.g., Jerry Lewis, Don
        Rickles, Sid Caesar)
Jewish Comedians/Modern (e.g., Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld,
        Adam Sandler, Gilda Radner)
Jewish Actors (e.g., Edward G. Robinson, Kirk Douglas, Dustin
       Hoffman, Adam Goldberg)
Jewish Directors (e.g., Billy Wilder, Robert Wise, Mike Nichols,
        Stephen Spielberg)
Jewish Politics (Israel, Israel and the US, Israel and the world,
        American Jewish politicians)
 
 
Proposals should be approximately 250 words in length and must include your
mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
 
All proposals should be emailed to both the Area Chair and Associate Area
Chair. DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS. Please copy-and-paste your proposal into the
email message.
