Description
Competitive proposals will focus on the status of
one of the following topics prior to 1970.
(1) Contributions to language, literature, cultural
studies and social sciences, (2) Pioneers of Dominican
Studies in the United States, (3) Emerging voices in
early contributions made to Dominican Studies, (4)
Engendering Dominican Studies, (5) Breaking down
walls: early research on gay, lesbian and transgender
contributions to Dominican Studies, (6) The
fatherland/la madre patria in the imagination of the
early pioneers of Dominican Studies, (7) Diasporic
Studies: An overview, (8) Dominican literature, (9)
Migration patterns from 1800-1970.
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts are limited to one page. Each proposal
must include contact information for the individual
submitting the proposal: full name, title,
institution/company, mail and electronic mail
addresses, phone number and a brief biography (no
longer than 15 typed lines). Proposals must be
postmarked or electronically submitted by Friday, June
1, 2007. Notification of acceptance will be emailed
by Monday, July 16, 2007.
Accepted abstracts will be required to submit a full
length paper by Monday, September 3, 2007. Papers
that are presented during the conference will be
considered for inclusion in the publication of
conference proceedings.
