CALL FOR PAPERS

“Performance and Spectatorship in Film and Literature”

The graduate student research journal of the Department of Spanish and
Portuguese at UC Santa Barbara is soliciting papers for its forthcoming 2003
publication. The issue will focus on performance and spectatorship in Hispanic
and Lusophone film and literature. Interdisciplinary studies and approaches are
especially welcome.

All genres within the scope of film and literature will be considered.Possible
themes include, but are not restricted to the following:
        
Performance spaces
Voyeurism
Reader/Viewer response & reception
Nationhood
Social and cultural issues
Adaptation/translation
Representations of the oppressed
Truth and fiction
Witnessing
Gender/sex performance

Deadline: May 15, 2003

TINTA also welcomes book reviews and interviews relevant to performance and
spectatorship. Articles may be written in English, Portuguese or Spanish, but
must conform to MLA Style. Before submitting your paper please refer to our
checklist at http://orgs.sa.ucsb.edu/tinta/call2003 for formatting
requirements. Submissions that do not conform to these requirements will not
be considered for publication.
