Cross Genres Panel Proposal for 2009 AWP Conference (Feb 11-14,2009
Chicago). Deadline April 20, 2008. Would like to gather participants for
an AWP Cross Genres Issues panel proposal focusing on integrating creative
writing issues and/or practices in either composition or literature
classes. Since so many teachers of creative writing are expected to teach
composition and, sometimes, surveys of literature, the methods of
integrating cross-genre skills seems of particular interest to creative
writers who want to increase their effectiveness as both teachers and
writers. Some possible topics include: creative nonfiction practices in
composition, freelance techniques in creative writing, analyzing literary
works from the writer's point of view, applying the elements of writing to
works of literature, etc. Please send a 250-500 word proposal to Bonnie J.
